PERSONS IN PAID EMPLOYMENT, BY ACTIVITIES AND COUNTIES

Situation as on 31 March 2008

 

The number of persons in paid employment in legal entities by counties, with the situation as on 31 March 2008, increased in all counties, as compared to the same situation in 2007. The largest increase was shown in the County of  Šibenik-Knin (5.4%), the County of Zadar (4.6%), the County of Zagreb, the County of Slavonski Brod-Posavina, the County of Međimurje and the City of Zagreb (4.4% each), the County of Lika-Senj and the County of Split-Dalmatia (4.1% each), the County of Dubrovnik-Neretva and the County of Istria (3.9% each), the County of Karlovac (3.5%), the County of Osijek-Baranja and the County of Varaždin (3.4% each).

 

The lowest increase was recorded the County of Primorje-Gorski kotar (0.8%), the County of Požega-Slavonia (0.9%), the County of Sisak-Moslavina (1.3%), the County of Koprivnica-Križevci (1.8%), the County of Virovitica-Podravina and the County of Vukovar-Sirmium (2.6% each).

NOTES ON METHODOLOGY

 

Data on the number of persons in employment in legal entities are the result of the annual survey conducted once a year with the situation as on 31 March. The survey covers all legal entities of all types of ownership, government bodies and bodies of local and regional self-government units on the territory of the Republic of Croatia.

 

Data are collected on the RAD-1G form, filled in by legal entities on the basis of records on persons in paid employment.

 

Data include the estimated number of persons in employment in legal entities employing less than 10 persons, for whom reports were not submitted. This survey does not cover persons in employment in crafts and trades and free lances or private farmers. Since 2004, persons in employment in the police and defence have been included in the survey.

 

Data on counties are presented according to the NKD 2002. sections and territorial constitution in compliance with the Act on the Territories of Counties, Towns and Municipalities in the Republic of Croatia (NN, Nos. 10/97, 124/97, 68/98, 22/99, 117/99, 128/99, 44/00, 129/00, 92/01, 83/02, 25/03, 107/03 and 175/03).
