PERSONS IN PAID EMPLOYMENT, BY ACTIVITIES AND COUNTIES

Situation as on 31 March 2009

 

Since January 2009, statistical data on earnings and persons in employment have been observed, processed and presented according to the National Classification of Activities, 2007 version – NKD 2007. (NN, Nos 58/07 and 72/07).

 

The number of persons in paid employment in legal entities by counties, with the situation as on 31 March 2009, as compared to the same situation in 2008, increased in three counties. The largest increase was shown in the City of Zagreb (1.3%), followed by the County of Zagreb (0.4%) and the County of Lika-Senj (0.1%).

 

In the rest of the counties there was a decrease in the number of persons in employment recorded. The greatest decrease was shown in the County of Sisak-Moslavina (6.7%),  followed by the County of Istria (5.8%), the County of Karlovac (5.7%), the County of Virovitica-Podravina (5.6%), the County of Požega-Slavonia (4.4%), the County of Krapina-Zagorje (4.2%), the County of Bjelovar-Bilogora (4%), the County of Varaždin and the County of Šibenik-Knin (3.9% each), the County of Slavonski Brod-Posavina (3.5%), the County of Koprivnica-Križevci (3.4%), the County of Osijek-Baranja (2.9%), the County of Vukovar-Sirmium (2.6%), the County of Dubrovnik-Neretva (2.3%), the County of Primorje-Gorski kotar, the County of Zadar and the County of Međimurje (2.2% each) and the County of Split-Dalmatia (1.6%).

NOTES ON METHODOLOGY

 

Since January 2009, statistical data on earnings and persons in employment have been observed, processed and presented according to the National Classification of Activities, 2007 version (NKD 2007.). This Classification entered into force on 1 January 2008 (NN, Nos 58/07 and 72/07) and, regarding its contents and structure, it is completely in line with the NACE, Rev. 2. Its implementation will provide for a high quality international coverage of statistical data.

 

Data on the number of persons in employment in legal entities are the result of the annual survey conducted once a year with the situation as on 31 March. The survey covers all legal entities of all types of ownership, government bodies and bodies of local and regional self-government units on the territory of the Republic of Croatia.

 

Data are collected on the RAD-1G form, filled in by legal entities on the basis of records on persons in paid employment.

 

Data include the estimated number of persons in employment in legal entities employing less than 10 persons, for whom reports were not submitted. This survey does not cover persons in employment in crafts and trades and free lances or private farmers. Since 2004, persons in employment in the police and defence have been included in the survey.

 

Data on counties are presented according to the NKD 2007. sections and territorial constitution in compliance with the Act on the Territories of Counties, Towns and Municipalities in the Republic of Croatia (NN, Nos 10/97, 124/97, 68/98, 22/99, 117/99, 128/99, 44/00, 129/00, 92/01, 83/02, 25/03, 107/03 and 175/03).
