Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on socioeconomic indicators

Mild epidemiological measures and recommendations aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 disease were in force in February 2022, when the total seasonally and working-day adjusted industrial turnover in the Republic of Croatia increased by 6.9% compared to January 2022, while the total working-day adjusted industrial turnover increased by 21.9% compared to February 2021.

According to the Main Industrial Groupings (MIGs 2009), the sales income increased in all five aggregates. The largest increase was recorded in Durable consumer goods (CD), of 46.6%, followed by the increase in Energy (AE), of 44.0%, Intermediate goods (AI), of 32.3%, Capital goods (BB), of 16.2%, and Non-durable consumer goods (CN), of 11.3%.

Comparing the destination of markets in the same period, the industrial turnover on domestic market increased by 19.3% and on non-domestic market by 25.7%.

The calculation of the MIGs 2009. aggregates was done by grouping of the NKD 2007. activities at the level of groups or divisions within sections B and C (05.1 – 33.2) as follows, using alphabetic marks of abbreviations, was done as follows:

Al Intermediate goods: the NKD 2007. divisions and groups: 07 – 09, 10.6, 10.9, 13.1 – 13.3, 16, 17, 20.1 – 20.3, 20.5, 20.6, 22 – 24, 25.5 – 25.7, 25.9, 26.1, 26.8, 27.1 – 27.4 and 27.9
AE Energy: the NKD 2007. divisions: 05, 06 and 19
BB Capital goods: the NKD 2007. divisions and groups: 25.1 – 25.4, 26.2, 26.3, 26.5, 26.6, 28, 29, 30.1 – 30.4, 32.5 and 33
CD Consumer durables: the NKD 2007. divisions and groups: 26.4, 26.7, 27.5, 30.9, 31, 32.1 and 32.2
CN Consumer non-durables: the NKD 2007. divisions and groups: 10.1 – 10.5, 10.7, 10.8, 11, 12, 13.9, 14, 15, 18, 20.4, 21, 32.3, 32.4 and 32.9.
