Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on socioeconomic indicators

Gradual repeal of epidemiological measures introduced due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2021 affected the total working-day adjusted industrial turnover, which, compared to May 2020, increased by 36.0%. Mitigation of measures in May 2021 led to an increase in the turnover on domestic market of 23.8% and of 56.4% on non-domestic market, as compared to May 2020.

According to the Main Industrial Groupings (MIGs 2009), the largest increase, which amounted to 126.8%, was realised in the Energy (AE) aggregate, followed by 43.0% in Intermediate goods (AI), by 40.2% in Durable consumer goods (CD), by 24.6% in Capital goods (BB) and by 23.9% in Non-durable consumer goods.

The calculation of the MIGs 2009. aggregates was done by grouping of the NKD 2007. activities at the level of groups or divisions within sections B and C (05.1 – 33.2) as follows, using alphabetic marks of abbreviations, was done as follows:

Al Intermediate goods: the NKD 2007. divisions and groups: 07 – 09, 10.6, 10.9, 13.1 – 13.3, 16, 17, 20.1 – 20.3, 20.5, 20.6, 22 – 24, 25.5 – 25.7, 25.9, 26.1, 26.8, 27.1 – 27.4 and 27.9
AE Energy: the NKD 2007. divisions: 05, 06 and 19
BB Capital goods: the NKD 2007. divisions and groups: 25.1 – 25.4, 26.2, 26.3, 26.5, 26.6, 28, 29, 30.1 – 30.4, 32.5 and 33
CD Consumer durables: the NKD 2007. divisions and groups: 26.4, 26.7, 27.5, 30.9, 31, 32.1 and 32.2
CN Consumer non-durables: the NKD 2007. divisions and groups: 10.1 – 10.5, 10.7, 10.8, 11, 12, 13.9, 14, 15, 18, 20.4, 21, 32.3, 32.4 and 32.9.
