The restrictions introduced to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic started to loosen gradually in August 2020; however, it did not lead to an increase in industrial turnover. The total seasonally and working-day adjusted industrial turnover in the Republic of Croatia in August 2020, as compared to July 2020, remained unchanged, while the total working-day adjusted industrial turnover decreased by 8.2% in August 2020 compared to the same month of the previous year.
The decrease in sales income was present in four out of five aggregates of the Main Industrial Groupings (MIGs 2009.). The turnover in Energy (AE) decreased by 46.8%, in Non-durable consumer goods (CN) by 5.4%, in Durable consumer goods (CD) by 3.9% and in Capital goods (BB) by 0.5%. An increase of 4.1% was recorded only in Intermediate goods (AI), which was mostly affected by the increase in section 27 Manufacture of electrical equipment.
Comparing the destination of markets in the same period, a decrease was also recorded, of 11.8% on the domestic market and of 3.6% on the non-domestic market.
The calculation of the MIGs 2009. aggregates was done by grouping of the NKD 2007. activities at the level of groups or divisions within sections B and C (05.1 – 33.2) as follows, using alphabetic marks of abbreviations, was done as follows:
