Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on socioeconomic indicators

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic and epidemiological measures taken against the spread of the disease in Croatia and the world left a mark on the turnover of nautical ports in 2020.

While the number of vessels permanently moored in nautical ports in 2020 amounted to 14 thousand and recorded a slight increase of 0.4% compared to 2019, the number of vessels in transit decreased significantly. In 2020, the number of vessels in transit amounted to 122 thousand, which was a decrease of 40.7% compared to 2019. All seaside counties recorded a decrease in the number of vessels in transit in 2020 compared to 2019.

The total income realised by nautical ports in 2020 amounted to 812 million kuna, which was 11.6% lower than in 2019. All seaside counties had a decrease in total income realised by nautical ports in 2020 compared to 2019.
