In December 2022, the real working-day adjusted turnover of retail trade in the Republic of Croatia decreased at the annual level by as much as 0.8% compared to the same month of the previous year. This turnover was 2.9% higher than in December 2019. In December 2022, at the monthly level, the seasonally and working-day adjusted retail trade turnover was in real terms 0.8% lower compared to the previous month.
According to gross, unadjusted indices, the total retail trade turnover increased by 13.6% in nominal terms in December 2022, compared to the same month of the previous year. Ten out of eleven trade branches recorded an increase in turnover, with the largest one being recorded in the following branches: Motor vehicles, parts and accessories for motor vehicles (of 17.9%), Specialised stores with food and tobacco (of 17.1%) and Automotive fuels and lubricants (of 15.8%). The turnover decreased only in one trade branch − Retail sale via Internet (by 13.6%).
In December 2022, as compared to December 2019, the nominal retail trade turnover increased by 27.2%, with the largest increase being recorded in the following trade branches: Computer equipment, books, newspapers and other (of 36.3%), Automotive fuels and lubricants (of 33.0%) and Dispensing chemists, medical and orthopaedic goods (of 31.6%).
According to gross, unadjusted indices, the total retail trade turnover increased by 11.5% in nominal terms in December 2022 compared to the previous month. The turnover increased in eight out of eleven trade branches, with the largest increase being recorded in the following trade branches: Other non-specialised stores (of 23.1%), Dispensing chemists, medical and orthopaedic goods (of 22.5%) and Computer equipment, books and newspapers (of 22.0%). The largest decrease in retail trade turnover was spotted in trade branch Retail sale via Internet (of 18.6%).
In December 2022, as compared to the previous month, the turnover decreased by 18.6%.
