In July 2022, the real working-day adjusted turnover of retail trade in the Republic of Croatia increased at the annual level, by 3.3%, compared to the same month of the previous year, thus increasing continuously since February 2021, when it decreased due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This turnover was 8.8% higher than in July 2019.
In July 2022, at the monthly level, the seasonally and working-day adjusted retail trade turnover was in real terms 0.2% higher than in the previous month.
According to gross, unadjusted indices, the total retail trade turnover increased by 18.2% in nominal terms in July 2022, compared to the same month of the previous year. Ten out of eleven trade branches recorded an increase in turnover, with the largest one being recorded in the following trade branches: Automotive fuels and lubricants (of 33.2%), Other non-store retail sale (of 25.6%) and Non-specialised stores with non-food products predominating (of 19.6%). The turnover decreased only in one trade branch − Retail sale via Internet (by 2.8%).
In July 2022, as compared to July 2019, the nominal retail trade turnover increased by 27.5%, with the largest increase being recorded in the following trade branches: Other non-store retail sale (of 54.2%), Automotive fuels and lubricants (of 46.1%) and Non-specialised stores with non-food products predominating (of 36.3%).
In July 2022, as compared to the previous month, according to gross, unadjusted indices, there was an increase in turnover in nine out of eleven trade branches. The increase in turnover was the highest in the following trade branches: Other non-store retail sale (of 33.8%), Non-specialised stores with food products predominating (of 21.7%) and Automotive fuels and lubricants (of 18.2%). A larger decrease in the retail trade turnover, present in two trade branches, was observed in the trade branch Electrical household appliances, furniture and other household articles (of 1.2%).
In July 2022, as compared to the previous month, the turnover of retail sale via Internet decreased, by only 0.2%.
