In August 2022, the real working-day adjusted turnover of retail trade in the Republic of Croatia decreased at the annual level, by 0.2%, compared to the same month of the previous year. This turnover was 7.8% higher than in August 2019. In August 2022, at the monthly level, the seasonally and working-day adjusted retail trade turnover was in real terms 1.0% lower compared to the previous month.
According to gross, unadjusted indices, the total retail trade turnover increased by 15.5% in nominal terms in August 2022, compared to the same month of the previous year. Ten out of eleven trade branches recorded an increase in turnover, with the largest one being recorded in the following trade branches: Other non-store retail sale (of 21.9%), Motor vehicles, parts and accessories for motor vehicles (of 21.7%), Automotive fuels and lubricants (of 21.3%), Non-specialised stores with non-food products predominating (of 16.7%) and Specialised stores with food (of 16.3%). The turnover decreased only in one trade branch − Retail sale via Internet (by 5.0%).
In August 2022, as compared to August 2019, the nominal retail trade turnover increased by 27.8%, with the largest increase being recorded in the following trade branches: Other non-store retail sale (of 70.3%), Non-specialised stores with non-food products predominating (of 43.1%) and Computer equipment, books, newspapers and other (of 42.6%).
According to gross, unadjusted indices, the total retail trade turnover decreased by 0.7% in nominal terms in August 2022 compared to the previous month. The turnover decreased in five out of eleven trade branches, with the largest decrease being recorded in the following trade branches: Motor vehicles, parts and accessories for motor vehicles (of 11.0%), Electrical household appliances, furniture and other household articles (of 10.2%) and Textile, clothing and footwear (of 6.0%).
In August 2022, as compared to the previous month, the turnover of retail sale via Internet increased significantly, by 51.6%.
