Census of Population, Households and Dwellings 2011

 

TERRITORIAL ORGANISATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA 

According to Article 21 of the Act on the Census of Population, households and dwellings in the Republic of Croatia in 2011, OG, No 92/10 in further text Act, the Census shall be carried out on the basis of official data from the Register of Spatial Units. 
 
The Register of Spatial units is a register where the data on spatial units are kept and maintained. The State Geodetic Administration, its local cadastral offices and the City Office for Cadastre and Geodesy of Zagreb are responsible for the management and the maintenance of the Register of Spatial Units on the basis of the Law on State Survey and Real Estate Cadastre (OG, Nos. 16/2007, 152 /2008 and 124/2010).
The Official data of the Register of Spatial Units, according to situation recorded on 31 December 2010, which should be expressed in the form of technical documentation for the Census (according to 21 Article of the Act), are the basis for carrying out the Census. .)
The technical prescribed by the Act consists of the list of spatial units, descriptive cartographic materials, sketches of statistical and enumeration districts, and PK forms - data on enumeration districts for all spatial units relevant for the execution of the Census (state - also level 1 statistical spatial unit, level 2 statistical spatial units, counties and the City of Zagreb - level 3 statistical spatial units, towns and municipalities, local government units - town districts, town sections and local council areas, settlement, statistical district, census district, street and square, buildings with street numbers).
By the Act is also prescribed that the technical documentation should be prepared in analogue and digital formats.
For drawing up of the technical documentation, by the Act is prescribed that it is prepared according to the Implementing instructions the head of the State Geodetic Administration in agreement with the head of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics
By Implementing instructions are defined all integral parts of the technical documentation, workflow of the documentation, the deadlines and the reporting method on the work done.
 
According to 22 Article of the Act the Technical documentation shall consist in the list of spatial units, descriptive cartographic materials, sketches of statistical and enumeration districts and PK forms. 
 
During the Census 2011 in the Republic of Croatia there were 20 counties, the City of Zagreb with the special status, 127 towns and 429 municipalities.
All data presented refer to the territorial constitution of the Republic of Croatia with the situation as on 31st March 2011 and according to the state of technical documentation prepared by the State Geodetic Administration on that day and their official Register of Spatial Units.
