In comparison with the previous month, the total
retail prices (including seasonal products) increased in August 2003 by 0.1%.
As compared to August 2002, retail prices increased by 1.7% and in comparison
with December 2002 by 1.0%. In
August, as compared to July 2003, the retail prices of goods increased by
0.2% while prices of services remained unchanged. The prices of agricultural products with seasonal
products decreased by 4.6% and those without seasonal products by 2.3%. The prices of industrial products increased by
0.3% at the average, within which the prices of beverages (alcoholic and
non-alcoholic) increased by 0.8%, the prices of industrial food products
increased by 0.4% and the prices of non-food industrial products increased by
0.3%. At the same time, the prices of tobacco remained unchanged, as compared
to July 2003. As
compared to July 2003, the prices of services remained unchanged at the
average. Within the prices of services, the only increase was shown in the
prices of craft services and in the prices of social welfare services, 0.2%. |

Retail prices of
industrial and agricultural products and services are monitored by county state
administration offices in the counties - statistical offices in selected
cities. Price indices are calculated on the basis of index list of products and
services and adequate weights.
