BUSINESS ENTITIES ACCORDING TO NKD 2002., BY COUNTIES
Situation as on 30 June, 2006

 

The Release titled Business entities according to the NKD 2002., by counties, was supplemented in 1999 by data taken over from registers and administrative records of other state institutions such as the Register of Tax Payers, the Fina’s Register of Annual Financial Reports and the Register of Active Beneficiaries of Pension Insurance.

 

The content of the Release has been changed in order to achieve as good understanding as possible of data on the number and structure of business entities, while linking enabled the presentation of legal entities by activity and type of ownership as well as to supplement data on legal entities by data on crafts and trades and free lances.

 

Data are presented according to the territorial constitution published in the Act on Territories of Counties, Towns and Municipalities in the Republic of Croatia (NN, Nos. 10/97,124/97, 68/98, 117/99, 128/99, 129/00, 92/01, 83/02, 25/03 and 175/03). The basic notes on methodology, given at the end of the Release, include definitions and notes necessary in using the data.

NOTES OF METHODOLOGY

 

On the basis of the Law on the National Classification of Economic Activities (NN, No. 98/94), the Decision on the National Classification of Activities − NKD 2002. (NN, No. 13/03) and the Regulation on Classification of Business Entities According to the National Classification of Activities – NKD 2002. (NN, No. 52/03), the Central Bureau of Statistics keeps the Register of Business Entities that comprises the following business entities: trade companies, enterprises, co-operatives, institutions, bodies, associations, political parties, foundations, religious and other organisations as well as parts of these entities.

 

By entering the Register, each business entity is assigned a seven-digit registration number, while its parts, beside that number, are assigned an additional ordinal number as well. All business entities and their parts are also assigned activity code numbers according to the NKD 2002.

 

Definitions

 

Business entities are legal entities and natural persons established on the basis of laws according to which they perform allowed activities as well as state government bodies and bodies of local and regional self-government units.

 

Registered business entities are units registered in the Register of Business Entities of the Central Bureau of Statistics that refers to trade companies, enterprises, co-operatives, associations, political parties and other uncoordinated units that held the status of legal entity according to formerly valid laws as well as state government bodies and bodies of local and regional self-government units.

 

Active legal entities are units registered in the Register of Business Entities, as mentioned in the previous definition. Their activity status has been established according to the data taken from registers of other state institutions, such as the Register of Tax Payers (annual registration of taxes on profit for 2004) and data of the Fina’s Register of Annual Financial Records (annual financial report for 2004). In order to get an up-dated situation of data, matched data are supplemented with all changes in the Register’s units (creations, deletions and movements) that occurred in the period from January 2005 to June 2006, according to procedures used in keeping the Register of Business Entities.

 

Natural persons are units that perform activities in line with law and refer to crafts and trades and various types of free lances. Data on these units are given according to lists of active beneficiaries of pension insurance.

 

Legal constitutional formation is a characteristic of the Register’s units defined by law on the basis of which a particular unit was established (joint stock company, limited liability company etc., according to the Company Law).
