In February 2023, the real working-day adjusted turnover of retail trade in the Republic of Croatia increased at the annual level by 0.4% compared to the same month of the previous year. This turnover was 9.6% higher than in February 2019. In February 2023, at the monthly level, the seasonally and working-day adjusted retail trade turnover in real terms remained the same as in the previous month.
According to gross, unadjusted indices, the total retail trade turnover increased by 13.9% in nominal terms in February 2023, compared to the same month of the previous year. Nine out of eleven trade branches recorded an increase in turnover, with the largest one being recorded in the following trade branches: Motor vehicles, parts and accessories for motor vehicles (of 43.1%), Non-specialised stores with non-food products predominating (of 17.5%), Non-specialised stores with food predominating (of 15.7%), and Textile, clothing and footwear (of 15.2%). The largest decrease in turnover was recorded in trade branches Other non-store retail sale (of 6.2%) and Retail sale via Internet (of 3.8%).
In February 2023, as compared to February 2019, the nominal retail trade turnover increased by 36.7%, with the largest increase being recorded in the following trade branches: Non-specialised stores with non-food products predominating (of 56.0%), Computer equipment, books, newspapers and other (of 48.9%), Automotive fuels and lubricants (of 37.3%) and Non-specialised stores with food predominating (of 36.8%).
According to gross, unadjusted indices, the total retail trade turnover decreased by 0.7% in nominal terms in February 2023 compared to the previous month. The turnover decreased in five out of eleven trade branches, with the largest decrease being recorded in the following trade branches: Textile, clothing and footwear (of 16.8%), Retail sale via Internet (of 8.1%), and Pharmaceutical and medicinal products (of 5.1%).
In February 2023, as compared to the previous month, the turnover of retail sale via Internet decreased by 8.1%.
