Government finance statistics (GFS) presents general government economic activities by presenting the usual sequence of accounts in a manner that is suitable for government analysts and policy makers. It also presents accounts of general government and statistical data on government finances, which creates an integrated picture of govertment economic activities: reveues, expenditures, deficits/surpluses, financing, other economic flows and balance sheets. The government finances statistics uses aggregates and balancing items defined in terms of the ESA concepts, definitions, classifications and accounting rules so that they are in line with other macroeconomic variables and internationally comparable. Items such as saving and net lending/net borrowing are available in the sequence of accounts.
