Croatian Statistical System
OFFICIAL STATISTICAL SYSTEM OF THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA
The Official Statistical System of the Republic of Croatia is defined by the
Official Statistics Act (Official Gazette, Nos 103/03, 75/09, 59/12 and 12/13 – consolidated text).
The activities of the official statistics of the Republic of Croatia are carried out by the
Croatian Bureau of Statistics and other bodies authorised by the Official Statistics Act and the Programme of Statistical Activities for carrying out the tasks of the official statistics (producers of the official statistics).
In addition to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, the Official Statistics Act also determines the following bodies as the producers of the official statistics: the
Administrative Body of the City of Zagreb authorised for the official statistical activities on the territory of the City of Zagreb and the
Croatian National Bank.
The Programme of Statistical Activities of the Republic of Croatia 2018 – 2020 determines the following bodies as the producers of the official statistics: the
Croatian Agency for the Environment and Nature, the
Croatian Institute for Public Health, the
Ministry of Finance and the
Ministry of Agriculture.
CROATIAN STATISTICAL SYSTEM
(producers of official statistics in the Republic of Croatia)
Pursuant to the Official Statistics Act, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics is the chief producer, disseminator and coordinator of the official statistical system and the main representative of the national statistical system before European and international bodies authorised for statistics.
The strategic targets of the official statistical system are defined by the Development Strategy of the Official Statistics of the Republic of Croatia adopted for the period of ten years.
The realisation of strategic targets of the official statistical system is achieved by the adoption of the Programme of Statistical Activities of the Republic of Croatia for the period that corresponds to the one related to in the European Statistical Programme of the European Union. At the end of October 2017, the Regulation (EU) 2017/1951 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2017 amending Regulation (EU) No 99/2013 on the European statistical programme 2013-17, by extending it to 2020 (OJ L 284, 31. 10. 2017) entered into force. The Programme of Statistical Activities of the Republic of Croatia 2018 – 2020 covers priority domains and activities that should be included in the Croatian statistical system in the period referred to in the Programme, an overview of the targets of the official statistics by domains, main results to be produced and disseminated, producers of the official statistics in charge as well as the main purpose and the main users of statistical data.
The implementation of the Programme of Statistical Activities of the Republic of Croatia is achieved by the adoption of the Annual Implementation Plan of Statistical Activities of the Republic of Croatia for each year related to in the Programme.
The involvement of users, science and broader public in the official statistics activities is ensured by forming of the Statistical Council of the Republic of Croatia as an advisory and professional body for strategic issues concerning the official statistics of the Republic of Croatia.
