Data on average earnings are one of the key indicators of the state of the economy and the standard of living. They reflect the level of income that employed persons earn for their work, which also influences the purchasing power and spending habits of the population, as well as some other economic indicators. Statistics follow the current state of earnings; by comparing them with previous periods and analysing the changes, they support the creation of different economic and social policies.

In 2025, the average monthly paid net earnings per person in employment in legal entities in the Republic of Croatia amounted to 1 449 euro, which was an increase of 9.9% in nominal terms and of 6.0% in real terms compared to the previous year. At the same time, the average monthly gross earnings per person in employment amounted to 2 016 euro, which was an increase of 10.7% in nominal terms and of 6.8% in real terms.

The data show the differences in earnings between men and women. Average monthly gross earnings per person in employment in 2024 amounted to 1 814 euro for employed women and 1 891 euro for employed men.

The average monthly paid net earnings amounted to 1 340 euro, but women still earned less than men.1)

Monitoring the average earnings gives insight into the differences between individual activities. The highest average paid net earnings per person in paid employment in legal entities of the Republic of Croatia for 2024 were paid in the activity Human health and social work activities and amounted to 1 715 euro. At the same time, the lowest average paid net earnings per person in paid employment were paid in the activity Other service activities and amounted to 1 060 euro.

The highest average paid net earnings for women were paid in the activity Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and amounted to 1 676 euro, while the lowest average paid net earnings were paid in the activity Other service activities and amounted to 997 euro. The highest average paid net earnings for men were paid in the activity Human health and social work activities and amounted to 2 043 euro, while the lowest average paid net earnings were paid in the activity Construction and amounted to 1 067 euro.

1) Data on average monthly paid net earnings and gross earnings are obtained by processing files from administrative sources, by matching the records from the JOPPD form of the Tax Administration with the insured persons database of the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute, for October of the stated year.
